On December 10, 2009 the members of Wall Fire Company #1
celebrated their 100th Anniversary. In honor of the Centennial the
Company’s December business meeting was held at the Route 71
firehouse, the original Headquarters of the Company. December 10th
marked 100 years to the day of the first meeting of the Wall Fire
Company. This event was the kick-off of a year long celebration
commemorating a century of volunteer fire service.  
On November 29, 2009, the Wall Fire District #1 donated Engine 76,
a 1965 Mack C95 Pumper, to InfoAge, a non-profit museum located
on the grounds of historic Camp Evans in Wall Township, NJ. The
museum is in the beginning stages of setting up a fire service exhibit
in the original firehouse of the former military base. Engine 76 was an
active piece of firefighting apparatus for almost 45 years, protecting
the residents of West Belmar. Engine 76 will continue to serve the
community through education.
On November 3, 2009 the Wall Fire Company #1 elected its officers for 2010.

Past Chief Answers Final Alarm












On November 24, 2009, Wall Fire Company lost brother
fireman, Past Chief William “Glenn” Somerville, to his
long battle with cancer. Chief Somerville joined the
Department in 1956, and served as Chief in 1963. Chief
Somerville also served as Commissioner and Trustee
throughout his career at Wall Fire Company. Chief
Somerville will be greatly missed.
